2008 4 runner 4.7L V8 Starter Bolt Access
I'm trying to help my friend replace his starter. I have the intake manifold off. There is a black harness cover against the firewall and two air valves under that blocking access to the starter bolts. I have found procedures for some earlier models and for a Tundra which doesn't have as much "stuff" packed in there and with the manifold off you can get the bolts. I can't move the black harness cover out of the way either. It appears that part of the harness goes down into the firewall. Does anyone have a procedure to get at the starter bolts. Thank you very much for your help. JLL

I was able to take out the air valves with information I found on youtube. 2 bolts hold each valve to the block and 2 bolts attach the air line to each valve. I used a 1/4 inch ratchet to get the valve bolts that are against the firewall. Needed a 3/8 drive with wobble for the lower air tube bolts. It was a bear. The starter bolts were easy compared to those valve bolts. I hope this will help someone else in the future. Thanks for reading.
