Question what does your rig weigh

I had an argument with my uncle about how much my 4runner weighs. He seems
to think that since a FJ60 seems to weigh almost 6000 lbs and that my rig will
probably only tip the scales at 3000 lbs I told him he smokes to much . The reason this all started was because he is doing a 302 stroker 347 swap in a custormers nice and very clean but totaly stock FJ60.I went over there today to see what he was going to do with this motor swap. The owner did not care what moter my uncle was going to use just the fact that it will have more power than the I6 .

So i was thinking a mildly built 302 would be more than enough power for this swap. Then he started stating that this guy was going to be towing a boat then I suggested a 351W but he is set on a 347 stroker. He then also says the reason mine is so fast is because the truck is so light then thats when the argument started. The tires them self have to weigh almost 600-800lbs .

My uncle is the type of guy that only listens to his self. He is a damn good mechanic, engine bulider one of the best around here.Other than the fact that I think he is going overboard on this motor it should be making somewhere around 380-500hp and loads of torque way more than enough to tow an 18' lund boat should be a real nice pavement pounder.

Well hope you enjoyed my story. So what do you think your rig weighs?

It's been a while, but the last time I weighed my truck it was about 1900 lbs. on the front axle and 1400 lbs. on the rear axle, so about 3300 lbs. without me in it.

I weighed it at the scale at the intersection of SR-18 and I-90. You should be able to weigh your truck when the scales are closed. Just drive up on the scale pad and look at the scale readout in the window of the shack.

mine's official weight is 2860, but probably weighs more like 3000 with my heavy swampers on it.

and i'd take a 351w over a 347 in a truck any day. 347s consume oil, it's just a trait of theres. better for a race engine anyhow imho(one of my co-workers has one in his '65 cyclone, it's an awesome engine but kind of high maintenance).

actually, i wouldn't mind building a 400M for something -- they got their bad reputation because they pretty much only existed in the smog days and had terrible camshafts and a retarded timing set. with the fact that they have the longest stroke of any ford ever made(factory at least) and that they're super cheap(nobody wants them), i think it'd make a good engine for a cruiser or something that needs a whole lot of torque.

I think Gibby's rig must be 6,000 lbs. then. He has Dana 60s, 39.5" tires, V8 engine, etc.

Hello All
Not a runner but....
Went to the local dump yard about 2 years ago and used there scales which are +/- 10 lbs. by the attendants account.
93 standard cab short bed 4x4 Pick Up w/ a 5 speed.
W/ 33's, no rear tailgate and 4in. Trail Master lift on a 1/2 tank of gas came in at 3650 w/ out me in it.

overkill on the engine.

that will be one hellova pavement pounding 60, but that thing will SUCK on some gas and hopefully he won't abuse it too much and come back looking for ohter drivetrain repairs...

1989 4runner I was surprised that I was at 4000 even with me in it last summer 2 tcases, v6, no top (put a load of gravel in it) heavier than stock rear bumper. 35x12.50 bfgmts on aluminum rims.

NADA lists my truck at 3650 curb weight. I would bring that up to 3800 so I guess I had 200 pounds of mods on it. I'm sure it is more with the 36x13.50 swampers and the solid axle now. guessing 4200.

it turned out to be a very nice rig. motor turned into just a ford motorsport 347 short block with some 80s 302 heads around 69cc chambers a ford stock grind cam 4bl intake and carb.. nothing like he was talking about, but twice the power of that 2F motor..

I did take my 4runner over the scale a while back but cant remember exactly but it was over 5000lbs .

edit: seems this is in the taco section.. mods can it be moved?

On a trailer mine weighed in at 5500 lbs, so I'm in the 4500-5000lb range.
