Toyota R350 transmission code
I'm over in a sand box and trying to get some spare parts for my diesel truck. It looks like the hiace van we drive around here has the same 3.0L turbo diesel as my truck but with a manual transmission. I looked underneath and the case ribs look like an R series (at least compared to the pics on Marlin's website). Anyway the build tag lists the transmission as a R350. Anyone got any idea on the specs of this tranny? Just asking cause I'll probably end up getting the whole transmission and according to guys who have swapped supra motors and transmissions into the trucks, the transfer case with actually bolt on the back of a R154. So I was curious about the specs on a R350, if it is a 'R' series transmission and what gear ratio's it comes with.

It's supposed to be an R151 or R151F. But with a different bellhousing than the V6 3VZ/5VZ(R150F). All the R series transmissions look pretty much exactly the same, the gears are different though. They've all got the same bellhousing bolt hole patterns, so you can swap them.

Thanks Mudhippy.
I was tracking that a R151f comes behind the 1KZ-TE powered trucks (but with a chain Tcase!), but this is in a hiace van with a 5spd. It feels like a R151 in that the first gear seems pretty low, but with the R350 build code I wondered about the overdrive. Do you, or anybody, know if there is a way to tell a R150 from a R151 etc if it's sitting out of the vehicle? The local national who rents cars here said he could probably have one here for me to look at by Wedsday. I know with the R series I'm looking for that large kidney bean style opening in the bell housing and the BH I need will say 1KZ on the top. I guess I can shift through the gears and figure out the ratios. |
hey if anyone is looking for a 30% overdrive ive come across a spare I dont need anymore, the toyota dyna gearbox code r254 we get here in australia has great overdrive ratio when fitted to the r151f or r150f 4x4 gearbox, mine currently sits on 2200 rpm at 120klm an hour with 32in treads, now that is awsome, economy is also a fair bit better not to mention way less road noise
so I have a spare set of gears looking to offload $850 plus postage, |
I believe the R151 has a rubber plug on the bottom
