Rear disc brake conver. No E-Brake! HELP!

So I tossed out the drums and slapped on disc brake on the rear on my 88' 4Runner. What is everyone using for PARKING BRAKE? I hate having that feeling my car rolled away and possibly killing someone everytime I leave it in gear. Is the only solution the T-case, Lock line idea??

Transfer case disc,All Pro Offroad good one little high on price but works

I have a rear disc swap on my 83 Pickup and went with a Sky Off Road transfer case e-brake after a couple close calls on roll aways. Hooks up the the factory e-brake cable and pull handle. Works great and easy to install.
Attachment 118766 I poweredcoated mine though... Attachment 118767 Attachment 118768 Attachment 118769 |
:coffee: Do you have any issues with this brake rusting .
Although you are pretty far down there in the land of the Chicken!! |
No rust - I powdercoated everything except for the actual rotor. Besides... my truck doesn't see water, rain, salt, etc so rust can't be an issue...

:welder: Got it My Ex-Wife was like that as well!!

The only disadvantage to the Sky's kit is that sky's consider it disposable. They want you to replace the entire unit instead of being able to replace the pads (which is similar to a tractor application )
|
I wonder how long would the pads last in normal use.
I don`t know many people that change the shoes on the emergency brakes on the Celica`s and Supra`s rears :wrench: |
Problem is the pad wears kind of quickly if you forget the brake is on.
Also they get saturated quickly if your rear t/c output seal goes and oil soaks it |
