Negative Camber

So whats the purpose, reasoning of negative camber especially with a truck? I see so many new(er) trucks these days with this. My 2004 Taco has slight negative camber (nothing is worn out and it was just aligned again...good old IFS!) but my 83 has slight positive camber. I understand it helps race/performance cars corner better but that's a mot point for a truck. Or is this just another concession our trucks have had forced on them by a public who want car-like ride and handling but boast " I drive a 4X4, not a car!" as they park at the mall!!

Only thing comes to mind is when the truck is loaded the positive falls out. Seems like the slightest bump loads the springs enough to bring it to zero degrees
