Line-X

I talked to the local Line-X about spraying my bumpers and rocker panels. They quoted me a minimum of $1000. A thousand bucks?? That's crazy. What do you guys think?

GranVille-4crawler 02-26-2011 11:36 AM

i call shinanagans!!! just get the do it yourself stuff, wayy cheaper

scottishb 02-26-2011 11:43 AM

I'm thinking Al's Liner. Somewhere around 1/10th the price.

toyospearo 02-26-2011 02:32 PM

Where is Al's Liner??
These Line X places around here are super expensive. $1000 for the Op's job sounds like what they would charge here.

Man that is a little steep. I use to work for Line-X. We use to charge $450.00 for the entire bed of a truck and I'm pretty sure it was only another $100.00 for the rocker panels. It was of course a little more than that if you had the Kevlar coating on top.

I have my front bumper Line-X'd with the Kevlar, didn't cost me anything because I was working there at the time but, I'm going back to get my rear bumper done because of the look, protection and durability.

You should check into that Durabak product. 4ever4running from Austin did his hood and rockers, looks excellent. That and it is a do-it-yourself project.

I've read a lot of good things about this product from a lot of different threads here on yotatech. When I get around to doing my rocker panels I'm gonna pick up the diy kit from schucks for about 100$, give or take.

Was that quote of $450.00 for a full size rig's bed or for our little Yoter's

Nope, that is for a full size pickup. We also did a few of those little ford rangers, and they were a little bit cheaper. If you wanted it colour matched that was about $100-$150 more.

this, the small 20-30 buck can can go a decent distance as well

I know the dupli color they sell at auto zone isn't the best stuff in the world but I was thinking of doing my floorboards with it. Think it will hold up.

Diablo22RE 02-27-2011 09:19 AM

I wouldn't recommend the do it your self stuff. My brother used it on his bed and its awful compared to my line-x bed. Although $1000 does sound like a bit too much, the product will be 10 times better.

You will probably have to redo it after a while, that stuff doesn't last long.

My grandpa left me this truck when he passed away and as far as I can tell the only real problem with it is the floorboards. Any other long term options to protect the floor other than bedliner??

I used herculiner on my dodge, and it is horrible. Now maybe it was the bodyshop's prep job or maybe i should've used 2 gallons, but i would not use it again.

They recent came out with a new formula called "Bed Armor" with kevlar. I saw samples side by side and the Bed Armor is a lot tougher then their old formula that came in the solid blue cans.

OrRunner 03-07-2011 01:51 PM

I would not use duplicolor crap, does not hold up. I used it in the rear of my runner to try it out, after that I spent the $1000 at linex, but that was front/rear/sliders/runner floor pan front to back and about 3" up the side and all sandblasting.

OP-
Your local line x guy is giving you the shaft. Should be around $400-500 for the bed and about the same for all bumpers and that should include sand blasting, depending on the rate per hour.

Spray On Bedliner

After a little research on spray on bed liners, I found a company called Bullet Liner. Come to find out, this company was started by the guys who started Line X. They did have a dealer in So Cal where I'm from and in looking at the finished product vs Line X vs cost I couldn't be more happy with my truck. I talked to the owner of this shop Tim and they got my truck in and out in about an hour. Thanks Bullet and Tim! The number is 760 439 2969

So is this bullet liner on the same lines as the Line-X and around the same price?

Very much on the same scale as line x and cheaper. It looks and feels just like Line x and the dealer said it has the same lifetime warranty.

Well cheaper for the same type of product is a good thing. I have my front bumper Line-X'd as well as my storage compartment in the back. I think it's a great product.
