leaking valve stem

my front right tire is leaking air from the valve stem...

i noticed it when i was airing up after wheeling on saturday.

ive never dealt with this before.. whats the remedy? with the stem cap on all the way tight, it actually doesnt even leak at all.. but if you loosen it or remove it, theres a slow hiss.

i checked my tire pressure today on all tires and although they were a smidge low (28psi despite thinking i filled to 30 at the jeep place), that tire was exactly the same as the others, meaning it didnt leak any air from saturday to today... so thats good.

should i just get it replaced at a tire shop or something?

How do you air down - pull the stems or use deflators? Could be the valve stem is just loose. There is a special tool like the "negative" of a slotted screwdriver - it has a slot instead of a blade. The valve part is threaded into the stem - just screw it in.

i just use a key.... maybe i screwed it up.

thanks for the info.

I was introduced to these deflator thingies that screw on the end of the valve stem (like the caps) that hold the button and allow you to use a pressure gauge while it's deflating... they are awesome!

Yeah, if you're using a key, I would guess you might have turned it a little while wedging the key in there. Pulling the valve stem is much faster than that.
