Last Resort......92 pickup
I have a 92 pickup with a 22re. Two weeks ago I went to start and it started fine, ran normal for about 2 seconds, then cut off. It did this about 7 to 10 times before it finally started and ran normally. it only does this after it sits and is cold. Ive put in a new Mass air flow sensor, new fuel filter, and i had new plugs and wires last year. I thought the mass air flow sensor would solved the issue, but no. It has 306,000 miles and overall runs great. Im wondering if its the coil or fuel pump? Like I said it runs fine and starts the first time once its warmed up. I bought this beater for 1000.00 8 years ago and love it, but Im at wits end. Before I get slammed Ive searched the forums and google and cant find the exact problem that I have....Please help.......

Have you checked your coolant temp sensor ??:coffee:
The Cold Start injector may not be turning on. Since you describe things work fine once things are warm |
Could be several things based on what I've seen people reporting about similar issue over the years. The two sensors mentioned already are good places to start looking. Also check the aux air valve and your throttle position sensor.
Saw you had a thread about maybe selling the truck - don't sell it yet. It's probably something stupid simple electronic thingamabob that's the problem. |
I have never had a Aux air valve that was not disconnected
Working or unplugged Throttle Position Sensor I never had cold start problem I really lean along the line of the a cold start injector issue :coffee: |
I've replaced the MAF, Fuel pump, and now putting a new computer in. ive got so much time and money in now, I'm married to it. if this doesn't work, Im stripping and selling parts and the rest goes to pick and pull junk yard. I paid 1000 for this truck, now Im really paying for it now. Everything is going to be new except for engine and tranny.

If you installed a Mass Air Flow sensor that might be your problem.
These engines have a Air Flow Meter Good luck :coffee: |
