Jeep Guy 3rd member question.

Hello all..

Not sure if this is the most correct place for this but i need some help.
I lost my job and need to sell a toyota previa minivan..Has bad 3rd(severe whine)

Im trying to find if i can use a pickup or 4runnr 3rd,i dont care about ratio just need it to go.

This has a solid Rear 3rd member style axle that LOOKS exactly like any other under a pickup or 4runnr.

I wanna go this route due to how cheap and easy to find the common 3rd's are.

Basically what im asking is do most toyota 3rd member rear ends use the same 3rd just with diff ring n pinions ??
Any info would be greatly appriciated.

Here's some info on the common truck 3rds:

My guess is that it has the 7.5" 2WD third in it.

Some junkyards have a comprehensive database of what fits in what, or you could drop the thirdmember out and take it with you and match it up.

Did some research, turns out the R/P is the same as the 4wd Toyota FRONT diff 86-95, and same as the R/P REAR on mid 80's Supras.

So, this is the same 7.5" R/P that a lot of 80/90's 2wd Toy pickups use. (some used 8") But I'm not sure the carrier is the same. I'd pull the previa carrier, go the junkyard and ask to see a 7.5" 2wd rear diff and sit them side by side and see if they match up. Take a tape measurer and see if the dimensions on the mounting flange are the same. You could even buy a new diff gasket for the previa and hold it up to the pickup rear end and see if it matches up.
