gennro 04-20-2012 04:42 AM

Yeah a 1986 and later frame with a 1985 body on top.

streetlancer 04-20-2012 06:32 AM

Why? Why this question? 86-up --> IFS

toyota4x4907 04-20-2012 07:17 AM

An '86 MODEL YEAR made in late '85, and stupid people THINK its an '85 because it was made in late '85!

Yes that's what I saw. Just not sure about the stupid part. Reg. says 85 so technically it is. But actual body, frame ,suspension was 86 to the core. Just never saw one that early or is it late?

Uh, no. If you tell the DMV it's a 2014, they'll put 2014 on the registration. There were no 1985 model year 4WD IFS trucks.

rattlewagon 04-20-2012 10:57 AM

Check the VIN on the frame and compare to whats on the cab.

spideynut 04-20-2012 11:14 AM

Door jam says 85

What month?

08/84-07/85 is 85 model year.
08/85-07/86 is 86 model year.

Door jam is the manufacture date. Manufacture date and model year are not always the same. My '80 was built in 12/79.

Ya beat me hippy.

spideynut 04-20-2012 11:55 AM

10/85. Winged window, cal bed.

nothingbetter 04-20-2012 12:56 PM

that means its actually an 86. Any vehicle made in or after july, is considered the next model year. or at least thats what it is now, not sure about 25 years ago.

We've established that fact. And, FYI, any vehicle made AFTER July(NOT in July), is considered as the following MY.

Hint: Read ENTIRE thread first, then post comment. In that order.

BMcEL 04-20-2012 02:00 PM

So, what you're saying is, it's not an '85? :hillbill:

I'll shut up now...

My sons 85 is 8/85. And its a true 1985 sr5 extra cab. My avatar.

I have a IFS titled 1985 production date 10/85 4x4 22rcte.

In the eyes of the state that first titles the truck it is a 85 perhaps because it was foreign.

Who knows
