Hard to find parts-why does no one make them
I wish I could find replica badges, metal grills, grill inserts, that plastic side piece that says 4runner on it from the first gen 4runners, can anybody else think of anything I missed and they wish someone made?

If I had that kinda money I would do it in a heart beat. At the same time why does no one make a replacement grill or even an aftermarket grill? Something durable and nice looking at the same time.

I would say there might be copyright issues with aftermarket badges that say "Toyota" and "4Runner."
What year truck are you looking for? I have an '88 4Runner and I got a pretty nice aftermarket grill and bumper ends. The stuff fits and looks stock. I found some generic stuff on eBay.
Ive been thinking about making interior trim parts as the old plastic is falling apart and it's hard to find. I have access to a vacuum forming machine, but am afraid there just wouldn't be the demand. It's a lot of work to make decent parts.

I have an 86 and I am pretty sure the copy right laws expired awhile ago and even an aftermarket mesh metal grill would be nice. I would love to find some interior pieces or just the blue prints for them. Or the B-pillar plastic replacement even if it didn't have the 4runner stuff in it. Mine looks like crap and can't be painted.

I meant copyright for badges with names--I assure you Toyota still has them copyrighted.
As for the ability to make a part fit a vehicle--not exactly sure how that works but I would think anyone could make a grill or whatever part. It just comes to down to demand.

Demand is there. I can't be the only one on this site much less the world that wants something other then the stock grill. Or has broken the B-pillar plastic. And there has to be a way around the copyright on the badges.

I am one more in demand with you. My A-pillar plastics are trashed. I don't want to buy used ones figuring they are too. I will tell you there are none to be found here in PHX, as the heat destroys them. Door switch panels, center console, trim around shifter and, of course the dash are all trashed.
I just saw the rear top interior trim go on eBay for like $160.

Not to mention the salt damage areas around the world that need hard to find parts. There has to be someone that can make interior molds with a little bit of urethane to make them stronger. How many people are looking for center consoles, sr5 parts, the trim around the shifters, dash boards, gauge clusters, the back plastic pieces in the rear cargo areas. Someone like LMC for yotas. I vote Slacker do it, he's good with molds. But the piece I really want is on the exterior beside the driver door.

There is just not enough demand for these parts .It might seem like there is but compared to the Big three not really.
Yes they could be custom made but at what cost??
It is not cheap to get up and make a production run. You think dealer parts are expensive??
Heck most places have a hard time getting enough people for a special run for a group buy.

As far as grills, bumpers, and end caps, I think they are fairly reasonable. Ebay... http://www.ebay.com/sch/Car-Truck-Pa...p2050890.m1602

I have seen a ton of demand. If someone started making the sr5 incline meter it would sell like hot cakes. Then move onto other parts if no one buys make them to order. I would do it

I see now where to buy stock grilles but what about custom grilles? I guess I'll have to try to make my own. Now what about interior pieces?
