Fuel Pump Question (Desperate)
Alright so i'm almost done wiring my 7m-ge in my 84 pickup. I got to the fuel pump tonight and saw there were two wires going into the pump motor so before i put it in i jumped from the battery to the pins on the motor harness. Didnt get any response from the motor.
I checked the wires i was jumping with, they have continuity
I tried reversing the polarity
I tried tapping the motor a little with a wrench for whatever its worth
It's a pump from a 3.4 4runner
Is there something i'm missing or is the pump just bad?

I'm no electrical whiz, in fact I'm a complete dumb@%# when it comes to electrical but...I know an in tank fuel pump can't sensibly be grounded by using the body of the pump with a clamp. The reason is, if it ever came loose the resulting spark in a fume filled gasoline tank would cause a fire/explosion.
So, this leads me to believe (possibly incorrectly) that, if there aren't any broken or cut off wires & you tried what you said with a fully charged battery, then the pump is dead.
But I could be wrong.

Yeah it was bad. I grabbed the pump off the donor Supra and it fired right up. Only problem is now i have a big ass oval hole in the tank and a little round fuel pump to go in it lol
