I just installed a k&n on my 91 4runner with a rebuild 3.0 !! Couldn't really tell a difference until I bypassed the catilatic converter !!! Runs a lot better now!!

Don't do it, it's a trap.

Headers, complete exhaust, K&N cold air intake.

You want the best way or cheapest? Beast way would be to supercharge it. Off the shelf intake kit aren't worth the time, money or headache.

And Toyota boy, I hate to say it, but as someone whose been sucked into that fiasco before, headers aren't worth it either...much more of a PITA that they're worth.

:great:

Plus there's eleventybillion threads on "suping up" a 22re......

I would love to drop $5000 for a super charger, but that will only cause me headaches down the road the way i drive =P

This is for my new 2007 taco, not the 92 on my profile

I have always noticed a very good amount of gain from headers. It also depends on which headers you choose. OBX may give you nothing but gibson may give you 25% power gain. You get what you pay for. And I hate to say it but a complete K/N Intake will also give you a gain. Same as a complete exhaust. But doing one without doing the others is useless like you said. What's the point if more air if the stock exhaust isn't going to put it out fast enough. You he would do all the I mentioned together he will see a HP gain. Dino charts can and will prove that.

I just replaced the stock manifolds, crossover pipe, and everything else associated with the exhaust on my 3.4 T100 and I done it In less then 5 hours. This included replacing the Stock stripped out exhaust studs. It wasn't much of a PITA at all to me. Headers would had been much easier IMO.

yea if read all the stuff on the intake, i guess i just like the look under the hood. i might just end up putting a TRD filter in the stock air box

Ok. What ever helps you sleep at night. I'm saying from my personal experience, as a professional technician, they aren't worth it. It doesn't matter if you do one by itself or the whole package, you will never get those magic numbers that the manufacturers "advertise".

My trucks a perfect example. Back in august of 2009, I dyno'd my truck at an event with a couple of friends. With a K&n intake, rated at 9 horse on our trucks, a Poweraid throttle body spacer, and a magnaflow exhaust, I put down 161, 164 and 166 in three consecutive runs.

Rewind back 6 months prior to that. I ran my truck, with just the exhaust, on our dyno at the college I was going to. I put down 158-162 in three runs.

Now, if I had forked out a bunch of money for that intake and spacer, I'd be pretty pissed. Thankfully I got them for free. Unfortunately, I don't have my stock airbox to switch back to. You can enjoy your intake. I personally want to take mine off. If your happy with it, then enjoy it.

And OP, if you have to buy an intake to satisfy yourself, go with the TRD. It's designed by Toyota, made exactly for your truck, and if there was any warranty left on the truck, would be the only intake that doesn't void that warranty.

No thanks. Minor differences between the 95 and 98. I'm good.
