Clutch & RMS swap advice.
 

Hi All,
I am looking for some clarity regarding what is needed for a clutch and rear main seal swap. I have a M.C. clutch kit with flywheel and new flywheel bolts and a Felpro RMS and gasket set (transmission jack too). I've done a clutch on a Tercel in the distant past. I have read a lot of stuff out there and some have mentioned that this repair requires FIPG or equivalent form in place gasket maker. Is this true and if so for what exactly? What other gaskets and seals will I need when I’m in there? Should I buy some "just in case" gaskets since I'm going to be in there and which ones will likely be leaking?

I have a 93 4runner 3vze with 205,000 miles, no maintenance history before 190K. Substantial leak between the bell housing and engine. Semi-daily driver.

Does anyone know what the part number is for this seals behind the transmission front bearing retainer? 3vze 4wd transmission. Is it the Manual Shaft Seal?

The FSM does not list the part number in the transmission section.

It says in the description A340, which is the auto. Seems like conflicting info, so be careful.

The clutch job isn't very difficult, but I've done a couple hundred various clutches. Drop the driveshafts, remove trans and case shifters, undo any wiring and speedo, support trans and case together, drop crossmember and remove bellhousing bolts, remove trans carefully.

I don't remember if the T-bars attach at the crossmember or not, or if there is a section that's removable to allow trans to drop. Maybe someone else can chime in for more specifics?

I think I put the clutch throw bearing in improperly. the release arm is stuck and out of alignment with the slave. I'll try again next weekend. thanks for the reply.
