Cltuch sheared in two. Idea's?

Hi, people. New to this website. Picked up a 97 Tacoma 2.7L 5spd truck for next to nothing. 200 bucks lol... It hasnt moved in 3 years. In pretty rough shape but only 80,000 miles. I ended up pulling the tranny to check clutch.
The clutch material was broken off from the metal spring assembly. Meaning the clutch section was free wheeling while the middle section was still on input shaft of tranny. Looked like a brand new clutch. What would cause this? Was it put in backwards? I dont think these trucks have that kind of torque. The clutch was a ASCO DTX-137. Is this clutch that bad?
Thanks for any help.

Thanks....got it up past Carbondale.
towed to scranton by friend
The front end is off this truck. Paint is ok. Frame has scale/rust big time. Need to sandblast. Engine runs good. Interior is pretty ratty. 6" block lift = real bad ride. Gonna drop it maybe to 2".
I hope I dont install a new clutch and have this tranny lock up. Tranny seems to be spining good by hand turning the input shaft.

Sometimes it happens due to a bad clutch... sometimes it driving styles.. someone slipping it to much.. it could also be a flywheel propblem if it was recently done.. could just be wear and tear and the clutch just wore out... if the trans spins and shifts by hand.. motor runs I would have the flywheel machined throw a new clutch in it and go have fun..

Put the new clutch works great. Didnt replace flywheel looked brand new. Maybe it sheared from some crazy shift. Figured the tranny would have damage from this. Keeping fingers crossed. Need to get new rocker panels now.
Thanks guys.
