I recently purchased a '87 4x4 Xtra cab and from what I can gather, it has something other than a '87 grille. It has the black one that is divided into six sections like what you would see on earlier models. This is the grille I prefer and my question lies more towards the headlight bezels. They were originally chrome and have been painted black and one is broken. I want to replace them both (in black) with what is consistent with the center grill. Are 1986 bezels compatible or am I missing something about grille options on the 1987 model? My truck is a '87 DLX. THANKS!
Your truck has the 1984-1986 4 Wheel Drive grille installed. Someone must have swapped it out at some point in the trucks life. The grille change was just a style change so they have the same mounting locations.
I am not sure if the headlight bezels changed when Toyota introduced the 1987-1988/1989 grille design.
I want to say that they are the same, but to be on the safe side find headlight bezels from a 1984-1986 truck.
