Which Winch would you recommend?
I'm about to purchase a winch bumper here soon and will of course be in the market for a winch. I know a little about them but have few experience, besides that of an ATV winch. The bumper holds up to a 9500lb Warn. So my question is...Which winch do I buy? Warn, Ramsey, MileMarker, SuperWinch what would be a good quality unit?
Thanks

I love my 9500ti (Way faster than just the 9500) But the most important thing to buy for is warranty. After only the 3rd time of using my winch the solenoid failed. (Which can be common because metal shavings from the manufacturing process get in there and destroy the solenoid) Warn fixed it for free, and I haven't had a problem since. Also you need to consider if you have room for an external solenoid vs. internal.

If you're thinking MileMarker, just get a Smittybuilt.
The people who say line speed doesn't matter haven't used a fast winch. You get spoiled QUICK.
All that said, if the budget allows for a cheaper/slower winch and synthetic line, I would take that over a faster winch with steel cable any day.

I just picked up a smittybilt with synthetic line and it appears to be of good quality, the guy I talked to said that Smittybilt's customer service is the best out of the winches next to warn and they are real good at fixing any problems. And the synthetic line is sooo much nicer than a steel line

A winch is one of those things that 99% of the time it's an expensive hood ornament.. so people go cheap. It's that 1% of the time you use it that it's worth it's weight in gold and it had better do the job. Warn XD9000 on mine but it sounds like a lot of guys have been having good luck with the cheaper winches like Milemarker ect.

^^^ agree with him. find something cheap, reliable and useful when you need it. you really only use the winch 1% of the time. the Smittybuilt XRC8 is an 8000lb winch that is full electric, easy to use, and 300 bucks.
