Whining squeaking noise after driving for 20 mins

I have a 97 Taco 4x4 5spd reg cab. For about a month now, after driving for about 20 minutes on the highway I get a whining noise when I let my foot off the gas. The noise goes away immediately if I push the clutch in or give it any gas. Comes back as soon as I start coasting again. This never happens on a cold start (morning commute) until I have driven it for about 20 minutes, then it appears. Sometimes I get a little squeal when I push the clutch in to change gears.

I've searched many search engines and forums and have read tons of posts. I have done what I can, check fluid levels, greased the ˟˟˟˟ out of all the zerks/fittings (like 8 or 9).

Any help or input is greatly appreciated.

coming from the rear of the truck or the front? to me, it almost sounds like bad gears in the rear end. pop the fill plug off, stick your finger in there and see if it has fluid and/or debris.

From the front: Under the hood, the hose from the valve cover. Mine squeals like a pig.

Certainly doesn't sound like its from under the hood, more so from under the vehicle. Tough to pinpoint where exactly

Tranny or driveshaft. Too scared to stick my head (or have anyone stick their head down there) while the car is in gear chirping away!

Another update: when the car is in neutral (parked) I can hear a chirping, like crickets coming from underneath towards the front of the car. I'll try to pinpoint out where its coming from.

have you ever replace the clutch/pilot bearing/throw out bearing? you stated that after driving 20 minutes you push in the clutch and you hear a squeal that you're throw out bearing! any squeal while you're driving on your pilot bearing your input shaft rotates in it. I could be completely wrong but that's my two cents lol good luck

Sent from my ADR6400L using YotaTech just reread everything nevermind I don't know what the hell I'm talking about its been a long day hahaha good luck

UPDATE 8/26 --

I found the source of the chirping. After driving for 20 minutes to induce the squeal, when the car is in neutral parked, you can hear the chirping from under. I narrowed it down to the Slave Cylinder Fork Pivot.

Here is a pic:
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-1...0/IMG_4446.JPG

What I did ---
The point of contact with the slave cylinder, threw on some grease with my finger. Next, I pulled away that rubber boot. You can feel around in there and you will notice the metal on metal contact. If you move the fork pivot around you can tell there's a squeaky pig in there. I pulled out my toothbrush and put on some high temp grease like toothpaste and I worked it in there. You can follow the fork pivot groove.

I've drove about ~150 miles since, trips over 35 minutes and I have yet to here a squeak. I will report back if the noise comes back, but fingers crossed it doesn't!!

Wooohooo!!

UPDATE 9/4 --

The squeak has yet to come back. No more crickets underneath the car, no more high pitch squeaking while coasting (foot off gas and clutch). I'm pretty happy so far. I'll see how long it takes for the squeak to come back and it will require a re-greasing. As far as the grease use,d I used the same grease I used for the zerks (non-moly).

Cheers!
