A while back i put a 3 inch body lift on my manuel 89 22re dlx 4x4 and after realized that the stick shift would get jammed up with the 4by shifter makin it impossible to go through some of the gears. So my ex husband and his friend completely removed the whole boot gasket and all and i got one of the aftermarket leather boots. Which was good but now its summer and its hot and all the heat from the motor blows rite through there. Is there any suggestions or tips on how you guys would deal with this

I ran into a similar scenario recently. Purchased a leather boot for my 89 3VZE 4x4 w/3" body lift - on Amazon. I was also feeling the hot air blasting through the opening, and realized I just needed to push the boot down until it engaged the thicker area of the shift lever.

Are you also getting exhaust fumes ?

You might want to look at other options of sealing things up .
