Tires for an 02 tacoma
 

What tires will fit under a stock 02 tacoma SR5 4x4 with the locker? I just shred my crappy michelins and im thinking about going with a set of the BFG MTRs or the BFG ATs... either way, im thinking 4 new tires are in my forecast because these ones are crap... ive gone spinning on ice in em and I dont like it.

Can I fit 33s without rubbage? Someone needs to make a tire guide thread! :banger:

Honestly... have you guys ever tried searching for tire size info for a 2002 taco? It's not there - All people talk about is the 265/70 vs 265/75 controversy and lifted sizes. We need a sticky with what works like we use to have.

Anybody have pictures for ryan of a taco with ~32" BFG M/T's on it? I've been searching google and can't come up with one.

My wife has an 2004 that is totally stock and we just put a set of 265/75R16s on it. It rubs just a tiny bit in the front with the wheel turned all the way and on a slight angle(driveway entrance) No big deal at all. I am guessing that your 02 has 16" rims.

So yes 33s will rub a lot! Even with 3" of lift and some trimming it will rub some.

This is my 1999 taco with 285/75R16 (33") and 3" lift. Still had some rubbing.

Let us help you out so you don't waste money like a lot of us did.

w/ stock height, you will definitely not want to put 33's on. if you read through tire threads of 4runner and tacoma owners, you will find that most say that there is no rubbing when going to 32s, but under certain conditions and with certain brands of tires, there may be some rubbing. Therefore a 1" spacer lift w/ 32's will 99% guarantee you that you will have no rubbing

now if you want 33s, you will have to get a lift. are you prepared to make that major investment b/c you want 33s? assess your needs for bigger tires vs your budget

Im going to go with the 265/75/r16s... they're cheap (er) and I can get them faster... considering I leave for death valley friday... yeah... theyre needed..

BTW...ecchamberlin I like it that youre running the whites out... A few of my buddies (STEVE) and I have had conversations about running whites out vs running blacks out... im glad to see im not alone...

you could go for the 255/85/16, thats a 33x10.50 if im not mistaken, much less worry for rubbing. Still, you'll want to regear if you go up to 33s from stock.

I run white out on all my BFG's. Kinda old school and a bit more work to keep them looking good but I think it looks cool.

He got 5 - 265/75R16s. Death Valley, here we come.

I'm a little late to the thread, but I have this size, and I dig 'em... I'm gonna go with M/T's next time though. Have fun in DV!

It took two major wheeling trips to finally get rid of all the rubbing issues I was having with my 33" BFG Muds. Up front I needed 4.25" backspacing on my new wheels to stop my meaty tires from rubbing on my coil at full turn.

Late on this but I'll add my 2 cents.
I had BFG muds 265/75/16 and they rubbed against the frame at full turn or mid turn with a bump (pulling into driveway at faster speeds).

Take it for what it's worth.
