Stock Suspension how big of a tire can i use
hey im in luck for x mas my pops decided he is gonna buy me some tires for my rig and i was wondering since i still have stock suspension and i have 31's on there at the moment whats is the largest tire i can put on there, a 33 or maybe a 35? i dont mind a minor amount or rubbing but i dont want it excessive. the reason i want to go as big as possible is im going to buy a lift for it but im poor so i have to save a bit more. so i figure i can get the tires now and the lift later and hope i can fit big enough tires to be happy on a 4" lift ( i was shooting for 35 but on stock suspension i have little hope )
i guess i can always tighten my torsion bars a bit

If your dads ready to get you 35 inch tires for Christmas the money would be better spent on a lift first then worry about tires. I've got 33x10.5 with the OME coils and bj spacer lift that will rub in some situations while on the trail.

P.S. thanks for the help ozzie i did try the search button and i got everything but what i was looking for untill i was looking at the bottom of my thread and noticed the 5 links available in which it took me to the correct place. so im sorry if i offended you with the wasting of about 55mb(or whatever it is) of forum space

If you're poor, then take into account that you fuel economy is going to drop, you'll have to regear if you go to 35's especially if you've got an auto.
Do a search and take into account all the factors here.

yeah 35's dont look like and option for a while. and i have a 5spd stick
also in terms of "being poor" i meant having $1200 for a lift not $20 a week for gas cmon now.
dang this thread isnt going the way i was hoping

You will have trouble with 33x12.50
Stick to 33x10.50-15
- fit nicely on your stock rims
- easier on the steering
- WAY less rubbing
- same traction, but less resistance

These type of questions are ok in the noob section so don't always just throw up the "go search" comment so quickly. That's why this section was created so people don't feel intimidated about any ?s.

Use this and then you can run 35's.
Ok, seriously, TC's got it dialed. Wider is not necessarily better.
I'll never go with a wider tire than what I have now.
