spool locker
i tried posting in the offroad enhancement thread, but once again my account wouldnt let me post in the thread i want to, but anyways im getting the complete third members for my pickup and im getting 488 gears with a detroit locker in the back and spool in the front. someone told me i shouldnt put a spol in the because i would be better off with something open, but the spool wouldnt be engaged unless my hubs are already locked right?

moved to newbie tech...:D
I guess the real question is whether or not you want to turn while in 4 wheel drive. If not, then a spool in the front is ok. Or, you could try and turn and continually break axles.
why wouldnt i be able to turn? whats the diffrence between spool and detoit?
a detroit will rachet but a spool wont im pretty sure about that but not 100% lol
I would skip the spool. When locked unless you are in deer guts like mud, they resist turning. Leave it open, least that would happen is you have 3 wheel drive.
alright so should i put the detroit up front and spool in the rear?
Yes.....
or save up a couple hundered bucks and go detroit front/rear .. darn i wanted to be geared and locked by the pismo jamboree
with a spool in the rear you going to go through rear tires pretty quick
yeah i might as well go front/rear detroit. its gonna be better in the long run
why not just get a lockright
Or Aussies FnR? Yes.
Or Spartans FnR? Yes.
cause im getting the complete third members. if someone make one of those lockers in a complete third then i will
Where are you getting these from?
trail-gear
Sounds like a lot of money...go Detroits then...:bigok:
x2 on Detroits
yeah its about 1800 bucks for the complete thirds. but its gonna make my truck 100 times better on and offroad
