I have put bodylifts on several rigs, if you go with a 2" or 1" I've never seen any problems, in fact they can be a benefit. Your drivetrain doesn't have to work at harsh angles, the frame will act as a slider in most cases (and putting real sliders on becomes easy), you move the fender walls away from the tires creating less rub which in turn allows for larger tires (which also creates lift) without major mods to the walls (tubing), your center of gravity is affected less by a bodylift than a suspension lift (fyi a bodylift does create more body roll), and access to certain trail fixes become easier too. There are pros and cons to any lift or setup so I always go with a little give and take, generally I go with a 2" body lift (anymore than that will create other issues so I never recommend any more), a three inch supension lift with 2 inch shackles (since that is about the limit before you have to do drivetrain mods). With a 2" bodylift, a 2" shackle lift and a 3" suspension lift I can easily fit up to 37's with minimal rub (nothing a hammer can't cure).

So for a total 6 1/2" of lift I've now created a rig equal to others at about 1/3 the cost. Not too bad. The only thing to remember though if you have an auto trans you will need to modify the linkage since you moved it away from the trans.

This is also a very good way to flatbelly a rig without again cutting the tunnel and creating even more of a cash drain. Not only can you move the engine and tcase up but the gas tank can go up too creating a true flatbelly on a budget.
