I am confused by the 'in touched came from a friends'? it was pulled from your friends truck?
If it was used, it sounds like the bearings are crap...if it was brand new someone did not set it up correctly and probably has too much preload...

Say huh? Ummm, who's your brother? Put him on the horn....or explain this to him for me would ya?
You're saying a bent axleshaft burnt up a carrier bearing in the 3rd member?
They aren't connected in any way to each other. The axleshaft, for lack of a better word, plugs into the side-gear. It never touches any other part of the 3rd member.
REPLACE THE WHOLE REAREND???
Dude, let's just forget you said that. Have we been?

My brother said he replaced passengers side axel and the 3rd member and never had a problem again the guy that brought the truck from him still hasnt had any problems from the rear end. Before replaceing the axel and that 3rd he burnt up 3 previous 3rd members in a two month period and all 3rds was in great operating condition.(This repair was done 3 years ago) If the driveshaft is bent that could be a possible issue.

Man i aint an expert but i would think anything that could make anything vaibrate in there would cause damage. Did your do any thing besides take the 3rd out of your buddys truck and install in yours?

You'd feel it vibrating if it were out of balance. And it would take A LONG time before it would do any damage(if ever). Unless it was shaking so hard it rattled your teeth.

Mud hippy i aint sayn your wrong and im right, or your right and im wrong, Im just sayn that after going through 3 3rd members the bent axel was found and changed with the 4th 3rd member and there wasnt anymore trouble out of it even to this day the guy that bought the truck drives it with no problems what so ever outa the rear end.
