Reverse

Reverse gear doesn't hookup in 2h but works good in 4low. Fresh oil and filter. Moved all electrical inboard and repaired or replaced bad wires. Wheel locks on front are un locked. Shift schedule is un familiar, and unfriendly where reverse is concerned. It kinda bumps drive on acceleration in 2h. Is the problem in the 340H, or belt driven transfer case? I'm right on the edge of upgrading to a5speed, and a r150f, and yes Marlin comes to mind. But which direction do I go. Ultimately I want to hang on to the 340h for standby reasons. Any help appreciated.
