ive got a question thats probably dumb but im curious. imagine wheeling and getting stuck with the front passenger side tire up in the air just spinning and the driver tire stationary. i was wondering what if you unlock the hub on the passenger side and leave the drivers side locked, would that make the drivers tire start to spin and then helping you get unstuck?

No. In lame-man's terms, it doesnt determine "wheel slip" or "path of least resistance" at the tire. It determines that in the differential. If you unlock one hub, all the power will always go to the unlocked hub.

That's what a diff locker does - makes both tires spin together.
