No Spark 84 4runner

well i'm a newbie and i usually just read the boards and get my info that way however i could not find any threads that dealt with the no spark problem i have.heres the deal:

i did a tune-up, new plugs, wires, rotor and oil.the distributor cap was fine.a couple months later it started dying on me randomly.one dayi think i left the lights on by accident cause the battery died and i jumped it with my car. the posts were pretty corroded so i cleaned them up and after running for a while the truck wouldnt start after i shut it off.so i jumped it with my car again and my bro-in-law threw a battery from his cutlass in and it wouldnt start. and quite honestly i cant remember everything that we did but now there is no spark. we replaced the igniter(twice),there were a couple of fuses blown but they were replaced, the ic regulator. the timing belt is fine,we checked that.so we figured the ECU. well i removed the passenger side kick panel and the ECU wasnt there, instead there was some emissions box. which leads me to my other question, where is the ECU on a 84 4runner? it was in the right place on the parts truck i bought(88). so now my bro-in-law and i are completely stumped. can anyone think of another reason for no spark?

p.s. sorry for the long, unpunctuated, capitalized, misspelled paragraph.

is one efi and the other carb, also check the wire comming from the distributor to the coil you may not be getting a signal

toyota ecus rarely go bad

yeah the 88 is efi and my 84 is carburated. i'll try the wire this week.

it probably the coil is slipping off

it just occured to me that i forgot to mention that the guy i bought it from put a 20r engine in, i think it was from a celica.not sure if that really matters but it slipped my mind.
