New gear ratio for tacoma

So here's the deal, I have a 96 tacoma, automatic, 4x4, ex cab, and I'm wanting to change up my gearing ratio To make up for my lager tires. I'm running 33x12.5R15's right now and really want to get more power out of this new rear end, and a locker as well. I'm not sure what gear ratio I have in at the moment, the door jam tag was ripped off =( however I'm pretty sure it's stock because everything else was stock when I got it. So with all this said any suggestions on what locker kit I should get and what ratio? or anything on this matter?
Thanks in advance
-Joe

Well at least your profile has your vehicle info in it which tells me you have a 3.4

You'll want 4.56's for a truck that sees alot of dd duties, and 4.88's if you wheel it alot too.

Go with Eastcoastgearsupply.com
They have built diffs they send you and your trucks only downtime is the time it takes you to swap out the diffs. Setting up gears is not a diy project.

You can go with an arb air locker which will give you the best road manners since you can unlock it when it is not needed. I love my lockright auto locker though.

remember he is auto though..

i don't know much about the auto power of the 3.4...but i know on the 3.0 (not much less horsepower) you'd want 5.29's with 33s and automatic..

however i could be mistaken...and i know you'd be happy with 4.88's! lol

hmm okay, well any idea what my top speed would be with 4:88's or 5:29's?

It depends. Your speedo is going to be off to the governer will kick in at "107" when in reality you'll only be going 85ish or whatever.

On 33's with 5.29's with a 2.7 5Speed my top speed is 86 I believe ?

But I only normally go 75 max. I try and keep it right around 65-70 for optimal fuel consumption.

5.29's an 33's are only really recommended for heavy wheelers. IE lots of rocky trails. Or if you plan on going to 35's.. No use in regearing twice.
