mud flaps, fender flares - tires too wide

the rims i have for my 87 4x4 p/u make the tires stick out a bit past the fender, and i get rocks up the side of the body and its messing up the paint. i dont want new tires or rims.. im not a big fan of bushwacker flares or mud flaps... anyone have a suggestion of how i can protect the doors of my truck from rocks and mud without new rims, tires, flares or flaps.. any ideas are appreciated. cheers.
