leaking antifreeze at thermostat housing.

Hi all. I recently replace my thermostat on my 1990 22re truck. Now it is leaking at the thermostat housing. I used the rubber O ring on the thermostat and tightened the bolts as tight as I am willing to do. Should I try some rtv instead of the O ring or make a gasket and discard the O ring altogether? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks in advance.

use the o-ring and water safe RTV.

Did you clean both surfaces real well as long as the neck where the hose goes.

I always use rtv and the grommet o ring and a new hose if it shows any signs of wear

This is after at least one or both bolts break off and need to be repaired.

Did you clean the area where the thermostat sits ? mine had a crust built up in the lip.
