Idle 1999 4Runner
1999 4Runner, 250,000 plus miles. In the past 12 months I have had the CEL come on, could not get it into the shop to check it out, then it went off.
Three times in the past 6 months, the vehicle will stall out. This has happen when at idle, when stuck in traffic. It just drops to below the normal idle then dies. Restart no problem. I decided that I needed to replace air filter, clean air intake from body of carbotator, cleaned with carb cleaner. Put every thing back in place now vehicle is running better, but will not low idle, it's running at high idle (1900 to 2000 RPM) Will not settle back down. In gear with foot on brake idles at 1200 RPM. What should I do? |
Have you ran it around enough to burn off all the cleaner? I know mine will run a high idle for a little bit after I clean it, it might take a day of driving to get it all out of there

sounds like you clogged or dirtied the IAC Valve on the bottom of the throttle body. Get a scanner and check for pending or stored codes.
