HELP! Yota newbie

Hello everyone. I just bought my first (older) toyota, its a Straight axled 91 22re. However, the prievous owner was a friend who after the ECU went bad, he started ripping off all of the EFI stuff to try to swap it to carb. Thats when i bought it. i cleaned everything up, bought new gaskets, and slapped it all back together with a different used ECU. i can't quite get it to run, it will barely fire here and there, i have good fuel pressure and spark. There are extra wires out of the wiring harness i have no clue of their destination. i know the Emissions crap was taken off a long time ago and it still ran well, i don't need it here. I appreciate any help!! i want to get this girl on the road again. Here are some pics.HELP! Yota newbie-image5.jpegHELP! Yota newbie-image1.jpegHELP! Yota newbie-image2-1.jpeg

Your ground wire on the intake manifold looks like its broken or frayed, that will cause headaches. Be sure to fix / clean torque that properly, FI depends on that ground in particular. Also your EGR is still there and may be stuck open. I suggest the two bolts on the back of the intake be loosened and a tin can strip be glued in to seal that off; cheap. Also you fuel pressure VSV is missing and that means fuel pressure issues, and I see a few bad vacuum leaks around the throttle body and poor workmanship. You really do need a copy of the FSM to get the leaks and fuel issues fixed.

Definitely get a clamp on the silicone elbow, if any unmetered air is getting into the throttle body its not going to want to run.
