Headlight wiring and turn signal switch combination-bypass?

So I apologize if this has been covered. Navigating forums can sometimes be endless.
I have a defective turn signal/ headlight combination switch (edit-) in my 1987 4Runner. When engaging the right turn signal there is no problem. When engaging the left turn signal it doesnt work and makes a loud buzzing sound.
My high beams dont work when engaged. The passenger one works sometimes but not always. They do however work when I pull/flash the high beams. After doing some online research its apparent this is a common problem with Toyota.
So in short I visited this site: http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...adlights.shtml and followed the steps. Took down my switch, cleaned, filled, reassembled and still I have issues. Actually now my low beams have trouble engaging.
What I want to do is completely bypass this combination switch and rewire the head lights entirely. I want to set up a basic toggle, on and off switch for high and low beams (one switch per setting). Has anyone done something like this or is there a kit available?

Have you ever figured out just what the problem is ??

If you are sure it is the switch why not replace it??

Then after all it is your vehicle you can do what you desire although doing what you want will be much more work

Guess Im just being cheap. I will likely replace the switch, I was just curious if anyone had done something else. These switches seem to be notoriously faulty so I thought maybe someone offered something better or someone came up with an alternative. I like options :-)

Don`t know where you heard the switches are faulty ??

Just where did you ??

I have a few with over a 1/4 Million miles still going strong

On one I had to repair the part of the switch that cancels the turn signal a little Super Glue and a piece of plastic still going strong about 10 years later
