Getting a 86 sr5
I have a chance to pickup a 1986 sr5 turbo pickup truck. My questions are it is Ifs correct. How hard would you rate swapping in a solid axle ?
It is a automatic how good are they ? Im looking at running 35inch tires would the Ifs handle that? Also what are some good sites for lift kits to lift the Ifs up? Im in ontario canada and older toyota trucks are rare so finding a front solid axle off another toyota would be difficult any ideas? Thanks |
I have a chance to pickup a 1986 sr5 turbo pickup truck. My questions are it is Ifs correct. Yes
How hard would you rate swapping in a solid axle ? Not hard, just time consuming, if you can weld, grind, fabricate, and have access to a shop its a walk in the park. Also www.trail-gear.com sells an IFS eliminator kit that has all you need minus the axle and rear lift for cheap. It is a automatic how good are they? Just as good as the manual trannys, Infact my buddy owns a transmission shop and he says their one of the best he's seen. Im looking at running 35inch tires would the Ifs handle that? Yes, If you dont wheel like an idiot, Get an IFS Idler Arm Brace, and Rear Brace and brass idler arm bushing and your set. Also what are some good sites for lift kits to lift the Ifs up? Im in ontario canada and older toyota trucks are rare so finding a front solid axle off another toyota would be difficult any ideas? Thanks www.Craigslist.com Search around, you'll find quite a few answers. Welcome to the boards. :bigok: NEWBIE! :saw: |
