I bought a bed off craigslist and the gas cap door has a lock on it and i do not have the key. How can i open it so i can put a new lock on and be able to use my gas tank?

Locksmith? How old of toyota was it off of? If its old enough you might be able to get a worn down key to work. Of just use a flat bar but that will destroy your door. Ask me how I know.

i am not positive what year, i just know its a second gen 2wd bed with the bed rails and double latch tailgate. My buddy is saying i could drill out the center of the lock but i am not sure.

You could do that and then go to a site like rockauto and buy a replacement lock.

Every so often in the winter when mine freezes in the closed position a flat screw driver breaks it right off.

Once that happens it stays off

Those doors are more of a pain then of a help .

All mine are now gone no more frustration

Takes me about 5 minutes to open these with a Bobby pin, slightly longer with a hair clip, and about a minute with a good rake..

Locksmith will have it open faster than you can dial the phone number.

If you don't care about the lock drill it out. Should be free, locksmiths cost $$$ lol. Mine is so worn out I can open it with a screwdriver, so you might try that first
