Engine Damage for running out of oil

What potential damage have I done to my 1986 Toyota Xtra Cab with a 22R engine by running out of oil? Drove 3-5 five miles to nearest exit after losing power; engine died as soon as I stopped. Put 4 quarts of oil in, finally got it re-started but with little power. Dies at idle rpms. 208K miles.

Your post really belongs in the newbie section. Maybe a mod can move it.

Bent parts, scored parts, broken parts, or a ruined engine...there are many possibilities. You won't know until it's torn down.

How did you suddenly drop 4qts. of oil?

Its a good sign if its not knocking like a s.o.b.

But... at the very least, I wouldnt think theres much left of your rings...
