Ebrake System for 86 4x4 pickup

Hello everyone. I own a 1986 toyota 4x4 and I have been fixing it up little by little when ever I have the time. I need to fix the ebrake. when I got it the old man said it didnt work. And with it being manual trans I need to get it fixed bad. The thing is I know very little at all about the ebrake system and how it works. I have worked on yotas off and on my whole life learning different things as I go but I have never been involved in fixing a ebrake. Can someone please tell me how the ebrake system works and what is most common to look for when repairing and etc etc. I feel dumb asking this but I just dont know and figured someone on here would for sure! Thanks in advance! PLEASE HELP

:welder: You should at least breakdown and get some sort of manual.

Pretty simple you have the two cables front and rear .

They meet just in front of the fuel tank with a adjustment there.

Cables can be stretched or broken.

At the rear wheels you have bell cranks that pivot moving linkage that moves the shoe against the drum.

This needs to be free and able to move.

These bell cranks are known for seizing fast so bad most times I just cut the brackets out and get new brackets.

The brake shoes need to be adjusted up to work correct .

Your brake drums also need to be within spec for this to work correct as well

Your Brake shoes are adjusted up by the E-Brake if it does not work after a while the rear brakes have less and less stopping power.

Please only take one side apart at a time trying to figure this out the first time can be quite confusing with nothing to look at.
