Drivin' a turd

I have a 1991 pickup up with the stock v6 3.0. I recently put some 33" BFG all terrains on it and now i notice the lack of horse power and mpgs...what can i do to improve my mpgs and hp??

James Woods 04-02-2012 04:21 PM

Put in some different gears

yotarover 04-02-2012 04:21 PM

go back to 28's or 29's. change the gearing run nos :D

ThatGuy1295 04-02-2012 04:53 PM

Case closed

Junkers88 04-02-2012 05:00 PM

Change the gearing and/or font size!

Really though you could probably do a search and get the answers you need....

yotarover 04-02-2012 05:03 PM

check engnbldr get another head or have yours machined, change the gears front and rear, add a sneaky pete bottle of noz . when you have to go up hills hit go baby go. and dont forget the exhaust side.

Start with a 30hp ebay chip, a electric supercharger and a tornado fillter. After all that should be equal to a corvette in 0-60:great:. You can either swap in new gears or put the smaller tires back on.

Discombobulated 04-02-2012 08:44 PM

Put 35's on it.

I couldn't decide wether to cry or choke with laughter after reading that.

Like pretty much everyone suggests, gears. You could aim for some cold air intake setup and sure the dramatic head work, but the easiest thing that would give you the most results would be gearing, because that 3.0 is not going to spin those tires no matter what you do, unless you're in 4L without the front hubs locked :nana:

BoredOutnJackdUp 04-02-2012 09:10 PM

Thats not true. My 22re smokes my 33s all day booooooyyyy!

Man everyone is just too quick with the sarcasm!

not even giving me a chance :nana:

btw You could swap in a pruis motor and get a coffe can muffler :stir:

ZeroHour 04-02-2012 09:45 PM

Depending on the gearing, and maybe if he has a 5spd and dumps the clutch I could see it, otherwise, my experiences, no. /notsarcasm

goodyota 04-02-2012 10:10 PM

make sure the engine is tip top and check it for codes. if a 4 cyl can handle 33's ur v6 probly needs a little tuning/sensor replacement. my 2 cents.

Leviticus6432 04-02-2012 10:15 PM

a simple tuneup might add a few ponies... my 4runner had 31s stock and ran rough. I got used to the slowness in no time... eventually I swapped to 33s and did a tuneup at the same time. Felt exactly as fast as before lol. A valve job was included in the "tuneup"

Scrap the 3.junk and buy a 22 r or swap with it for a v8.

and don't forget, just adding a sticker that says SUPERCHARGED adds 20 hp.

Check to see if your muffler bearing needs replacin'. If that don't work, it's totaled.
