Cant seem to find my jack or release my spare tire

1. where are the tools to change my tire?
2. how do I get my spare out?
3. Previous owner says that he doesnt have the special nut to take out the tires, where can I get a new one??

grab the handle off your jack and insert it into the fitting underneath your tire in the back and loosen, your tire should start slowly dropping.

2000 toyota 4runner...
The previous owner left me with nothing at all!

no jack, no tools, no nothing at all...
Not even the tire key..
I reallly need that tire key..

Is there a hidden place for all these items? cause i tore the back portion of the car apart looking for them

they are under the pass rear seat, there is a flap in the carpet lift it up and see if its there.

go to the junk yard for the tools, you should be able to find them there

The dealership should be able to get you the tire key

^x2...

And to lower your spare, open the rear hatch, and look down just above the bumper (near the center). You should see a little hole there. Insert the long part of the jack handle as far as it will go, and twist the end of the handle counter clockwise to lower the tire. If the P.O hasn't periodically lowered the spare to lube it, the lowering mechanism might be seized (common problem), so you may end up having to remove the air from your spare tire to get a bit of slack in the cable so that you can cut it down. If you're lucky enough that it's not seized, lower it down once per year to give it a good shot of lubricant.

Yeah, did you see the compartment under the rear passenger seat when you flipped up the seat bottom and it's empty, or did you not find the compartment at all.

That compartment houses my dads jump wires as well as his tire changing tools.
Great place IMO.

pkt1213 11-19-2008 11:07 AM

I think I have my jumper cables, better lug wrench, gloves, flashlight, and my heavy duty tow strap all in that compartment in addition to all the factory stuff.

omgodzilla 11-19-2008 01:12 PM

Was the previous owner smart enough to put the lug nut lock key in the tool bag?

mdcitrus 02-18-2009 03:22 AM

new to the group. Went to lower my spare to check it and apparently last time I used it lost the "key" that fits onto the hook to lower the spare. oops. Anyone have a part number for this or know what else I can use to fit the star bolt and lower it? 1998 taco ext cab 2.7L
Thanks!
Tina
