Can any one identify this rear end?

I’ve been trying to figure out which rear end this is... I would alimentally like to do a disk conversion on it but not sure where to start. The rear end was originally outfitted to a Chevy luv that I had bought. All I know so far is that it is a Toyota rear end. Only problem is from all the images and diagrams that I have seen no other Toyota axel flange looks like the one I have. The flange bolt pattern is rectangular and all the ones im seeing are either rounded or square. Can anyone help me ID this one? Also the axle uses unsealed roller bearings amd is 6 lug so most likly 4wd. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :)

If you can measure the width of the axle housing or ,measure the length of the axle I could dig in my parts pile and let you know if it is a 79-85 or 86-95( 3" wider than the earlier axle)

A Nissan axle loo s similar if my memory stick works...

Hi dropzone, thanks for helping. The housing looks like 48-5/8" and the axle length is mesuring out 27-1/4"..

Definitely looks the one out of my old 89. I would imagine that is the rear end referred to as the " turbo v6"

Now that I got that out of the way. We need more info. :)

Hey thanx for chiming in and taking a wild stab in the dark,,,,, but what looks like a turbo V6??????
Those pics are terrible

Uhhh... First off your name does fit you really well :) cause you are "that guy" you know the nay-sayer. But if i must explain, looks like those mounting patterns to.the axle housing came off a turbo v6. If you notice, other axle mounting patterns are slightly more rounded. Maybe get your eyes checked or get a new computer with a bigger screen. Oh and i said" i would imagine" so no guarantees... Your right thank god your here. Dhalai lama of Toyota! Haha j/k

ThatGuy1295 12-08-2012 09:07 PM

Niice friend, your on the wrong track. That rounded feature is common in over 20 axles. not just the turbo V6 friend. What else you got toyota expert???

ThatGuy1295 12-08-2012 09:09 PM

Oh and far as eyes and computer goes I have great eyes and I have a 2011 Mac Book Pro with HD screen, doesnt get any clearer then this. for $2700

ranger_t_f_u 12-08-2012 09:13 PM

20 different axles? Come on now... Never claimed to be an expert just said " i would imagine that is the rear end referred to as the turbo v6" do you see the words " im here, i need better pics" implying im the expert i.think not... Difference between a problem and a problem solver buddy. Be a part of a solution not a contributor to the problem. Maybe you should rethink your approach and try again ;)

Well those pics are takin with -.1 pixel photography. And they do resemble a blur at best. But Ill hear you out, what do you think looks most like the Turbo V6 rear in those pics? Is it the lower blur or the more south western buurghcgh

ranger_t_f_u 12-08-2012 09:21 PM

I think its the southwestern buurghcgh Haha

Well basically you guys, what im saying is that the bolt pattern on the flange is rectangular. All the "Pictures" and other information about ways of doing a disk conversion on a toyota rear are coming up with either the square pattern or the circle pattern. Also I dont know what year or model its off of. Just know its a toyota.

I dont think theres any need for ˟˟˟˟ talking about how crapy the pictures are or how bad ass your interface is. Just looking for some advice is all.

Nothing in those pics would tell you they are from an 86 or 87 turbo rear end or 88-95 v 6 rear end.
Only way to tell is by the axle measurement...

Edit
OP 48 5/8" is a 79-85 early rear axle..

ThatGuy1295 12-09-2012 09:51 AM

I will say its not a turbo v6 rear. E-Brake cable is different. V6 rears have a external lever. Unless it was off a 4runner but the axle would have coil spring perches and trailing arm brackets all over it.
