'94 Pickup Clutch Problem

Hi there,
I have a '94 pickup, 22re 5speed 4X4. I was driving home yesterday, coming off the highway to a stop sign. So, as I was shifting to first, I depress the clutch pedal and hear a pop. I then find I cannot shift into gear. I coast out of traffic, and find I can still put it in gear when the engine is off so I get it home in third.
I get it home and put it on the lift, and find that when the pedal is depressed, the slave cylinder still pushes the throw out arm.
Someone I trust with cars told me I probably popped the seal in the master cylinder, my question is that what it sounds like? If so how do I test if that's it or not?

The clutch pedal bracket has been known to crack and wont push it in far enough to disengage the clutch.

I have never had problems with the master cylinder myself but problems with the slave cylinder. I would check that first myself. Where did you hear the "pop" from? Inside or outside the truck?

I had seen that the bracket commonly broke, so the first thing I had checked was that. The pop came from in front of me. Originally, I had thought a cable had broken, but I then saw it was a hydraulic clutch. This being my first hydraulic clutch, I wasn't sure so I came here.
