'93 Toyota Pickup Long Travel Tips
 

So, I have a 1993 Toyota Pickup, 4wd, 22re, sick machine. Ha! Anyways, I've been having thoughts of putting a long travel suspension on it but, I have no idea where to start, and what all it needs to take. Any tips, thoughts suggestions would be great! Thanks.

I know this is the newbie thread............but people still expect you to do some of your homework......which is probably why you didnt get any replys. For the most part.....just about everything you will ever need to know is here already. Search, do some homework, and then post with questions, and I am sure everyone will chime right in and be more than happy to help.

Also we need more info from you. Are you set on long travel?And why so? Cause its a lot of work(fiberglass fenders up front, the rear axle prob, should be swapped cause the front will be like 7 inches wider, t-100 cv joints to retain 4wd, ect.) and a lot of money.


Do you want to retain 4wd? I would assume you do, i know when I am at school there, I was very glad to have 4wd in the winter so I would aim to retain it, if this is your dd.

What kind of wheeling are you doing, because if its just a mall crawler there are a lot of better options. Unless your doing tons of high-speed stuff there is better options. You get the point.

I think he was being nice about it...well I won't, you need to SEARCH before you post such vague questions. If I had a dollar for everone that said "I want long travel, but how do I do it", I would be a millionaire. Well if you have no clue what's involved then I would respectively suggest it might be a little over your head.

And for future reference, if someone in life offers you some advice, soak it up and don't act like a two year old :nono:

are you deliberately slow? research before you make obligations to what you think is the correct term.

Ryan... Shave the bumpstops, read the "can I drive w/o my sway bar" thread, get you some BJ spacers, some lockers and and aggressive 31s and forget long travel. A winch won't hurt either...

Hey yeah......sorry if I came across wrong. I wasnt trying to be a jerk. Just giving you a heads up to why no one had responded. I am new too, well sort of, I read this form for months before I joined, and I am sure someone posted something to the same effect on my first post.

You are right......the people here are good people, and typically there is very little bashing....unlike some other websites. I wasnt trying to bash, or put you down in anyway. Do your homework, ask good intelligent, questions that are precise and not very vague or general and there will be tons of people more than willing to help.

x2 Most of the time people would have read the first post and gone "SEARCH!!!! THIS HAS BEEN COVERED!!" I have seen that before, not fun to read. the search really is pretty helpful, and helps keep the site clear of clutter.

K so, if this thread has already been covered, what's the yotatech link to it? I researched it. I couldn't find anything. God you guys are all pricks. Really thought yotatech members were a bit more chill and had a little more respect. But YOU GUYS.

What you do is go to the Forum that pertains to your truck
Then Hit search at the top right
type in your term (i.e. Long Travel IFS)
threads will come up
Read through the threads

Many of us have spent time going through old threads to gain our knowledge. No one meant to be insulting to you. We only want to help. Long travel is an extensive and expensive project that requires a lot of knowledge to undertake.
