92 4runner has trouble starting...

My '92 has problems starting. I'm wondering if it's the starter. It actually starts MOST the time, but other times I better have parked on a hill to pop the clutch (I hate doing this). I've been told (by non-4runner owners) that it's either the starter or the starter silinoid. (i know i spelt it wrong, but hey). Yes, I'm a girl but I have many friends that are mechanics, just not for Toys. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. :hillbill:

i would think its your starter contacts. very cheap and easy fix.. is your 4runner a 4 banger or 3.0 6 cylider??

Starter contacts x2. Its a cheap fix, and a good thing to "use" as your first repair :hillbill:

Hmmm... ok. I'll try that. Thnx! I'm tired of popping the clutch.

P.S.: my truck is a V6 4x4

mine is doing the same thing if its making a click noise when its starting then the starter is fine but the solenoid is most likely bad but pulling the starter sucks

Yeah, mine makes that clicking noise. I'm just gonna replace the whole starter. my husband doesn't want me to replace the whole thing but I think I may as well so I don't have to deal with it ever again. Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it.
