90 4runner automatic to manual swap
My 90 lost a rod bearing so I'm pulling the motor for a complete rebuild. In the mean time I'm getting rid of my automatic tranny and putting in a 5 speed manual. Since its always been an automatic I'm wondering how hard this will be. Are the brackets to attach the clutch pedal and hydraulics there? Or are there any hairball situations in doing such a change?
I'm buying a parts 4runner to swap with. I'm wondering if I should swap my good parts onto the parts car instead. If installing the clutch and stuff is a real pain I may want to do that instead. Any advice out there? Also thinking of putting on some better exhaust headers for more power. I thought I was going to lose the 4runner for a bit but she'll live to drive another 200 thou! |
90 automatic to manual conversion
I thought I posted this but it's nowhere to be found! I'm removing my hated automatic tranny from my 90 4runner and replacing it with a 5 speed manual. The question is, are the brackets and such in my existing 4runner to put in a clutch pedal and the related parts?
I welcome any and all advice on this project as I don't know a thing about it. Thanks :=) |
