Question 4" Lift questions

I have a 1990 Toyota 4Runner 22RE 4x4

The only lift I cant find around here (clovis NM) is a 4inch lift. Here on base they have the shop lifts you can use that that can hold up the frame. How easy is installing a lift? I have some friends on base that will help... And is superlift a good brand? I believe it was about $900. Everyone says I should have leafs on the back but its springs. Any suggestions on this and is the price alright? Also I was sort of worrying the 22RE wouldnt withstand a lift and 33s...

Its not too hard, you just need to make sure you have all the tools you need. Get the kit, get out the instructions, and find the tool list. Make sure you've got em, and you should be able to do it in a weekend

Search around on here - you can fit 33's with no lift so long as they are 10.5" wide on the stock rims. If the truck came with 31's, your gearing will be OK for now.

If you REALLY want 33x12.50, you don't need the big Superlift (and the corresponding big price tag). You can do balljoint spacers and taller rear springs. Look in the vendor section for a 2nd gen lift package post by Strap22 (trdparts4u)

ive also been looking for the best way to lift my truck as well, but my yota is the 4x4 1990 v6 3.0L with electric fans, k&n intake, cherry bomb custom exhaust, sway away torsion's, all around pro comp es3000's under 30,000 on a rebuilt motor but 311,000 on trany, chassis and what not, so im not worried about pulling 33's but clearance is my problem if any one has any opinions i could really use them also if you think my trany could hold up. maintenance has always been kept up on it, just could use an opinion.

For the 4runner i would go with the ball joint spacers and land cruiser coils. Check around on here and you'll see it. For the pickup i would go with ball joint spacers and the chevy 63" springs in the back minus the overload spring to keep an inch off the rear to help match the front. Both of you also have the option of sway-a-way torsion bars for ride improvement. Those will all be cost effective ways to get a bit more tire clearance/lift. Just my $.02. And dont forget to set your bumpstops so you dont compress the tires into the body. Good luck.
