22re intake leak
I finished a complete rebuild on a 93 truck. I purchased it from someone who had overheated the motor. It had gotten so hot that the rods bent. I replaced them and new pistons. It fired right up and ran perfectly during my first warmup. I didn’t start it for another week as I was doing interior work on it. A week later when I started it again it ran rough with an air leak sound under the throttle body area. A friend suggested that since the engine had gotten so hot before the rebuild, maybe the intake manifold had weakened. Then when i warmed it up it cracked. I’ve taken off the throttle body and injector rail. Before taking off the manifold I’m asking if possibly someone else had an idea of another area to look at? Like I mentioned before, one weekend perfect. The next weekend an air leak. The bolts are torqued at 14lbs. Any ideas? I’ve read different threads on this forum for two years. This is my first time post asking for help. Thanks

Spray starter around and listen for the engine to race. That will get you in the general area of the leak. You may have more than one leak...
If it got hot enough to bend the rods I hope you had the head and block checked. Aluminum heads melt before steel bends due to heat usually.
