1st gen 4runner top weather stripping.
 

Ok took my 85 Runner through a touchless car wash today and found out I have water coming from the seal between the top and the cab. I have been trying to find this issue for over a year and finally its first trip through a car was and I find it.
The top has never been off according to the PO/original owner. I am the second owner BTW. I was planning on rolling topless this summer anyways but will need to find a replacement gasket/weather stripping regardless. I have seen a post or 4 on replacing it but my googlefu is weak today.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

then 1" thick
then 3/4" wide
then make sure to click the epdm material off to the right. if you want the weatherstrip to last, get epdm. its the same material as oem uses. also, its fire resistant and weather proof. ideal for automotive applications"

The problem could be that the adhesive holding the weather strip is no longer stuck. You can get high quality weather strip adhesive from auto body supply stores. That’s what i used on mine and will have to use again when i reinstall the hard top at the end of October. No leaks!

You will probably need to inspect the gasket seal and see if it is torn or deteriorated.

I remember seeing some people post up an improvised seal using more common generic weatherstrip that comes in a roll and it worked fairly well.

Great info guys. Thanks. I think I have some good information to hopefully get it done. Its been in the 90's for the last 2 weeks. Now its raining for the next 10 days. So this will have to wait. :roll:
