1988 22re wont start, VSV wire broken.. related?
Hi, new poster, new to working on toyota engines...
So i just replaced the water pump on my 88 22re, which has been sitting for about 6 months. Went to start it up and it wont catch. I've checked for spark, which is good... but it just wont fire up. It ran fine when parked it 6 months ago... so while perusing the engine bay for obvious problems, i noticed that one of the wires to the VSV was broken: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-d...4/IMG_2989.JPG Could this be preventing it from starting? I have to admit i dont even know what this bit is... im assuming its an emissions control item... i havent worked much with fuel injected engines. Also when its turning over, there is a clicking sound coming from the vicinity of the air box and coil... is this normal? I dont think thats the problem since i have spark and whatnot... Im kind of assuming my problem lies in the fuel delivery area. Anyway, Thanks in advance for any help! |
