toyota sludge motor
I have a 07 Tacoma with the vvt-I motor with 120,000 miles on it.I found out u have a major sludge issue.I''ve cleaned the top end and the bottom end.now at idle my oil lite comes on,and goes out as the rpm's go up.that tell's me it's the oil pump that's part of the front cover.now I'm flushing now with oil and marvels mystery oil.what made me look in to this issue was my lifters are chattering.the can lines show no damage.after multiple douchings ?should I be good ???? Thank you so much for any input given.Dave

this is what happens when people run conventional oil at extended intervals. I had a sludged up 3.4. I just ran synthetic and after 40,000 miles of that it looked almost new under the valve covers. The other thing to try is half oil, and half ATF. The detergents in the ATF will clean out sludge.
How did you clean the bottom end? did the light only come on after the cleaning? If so, I'd say your strainer/oil pick up tube is clogged/restricted. |
cleaning the lower half

People here were helpful to you....they just did not diagnose the exact, apparently, failing part. :)
