What cracks me up is an informal survey I've done here and on three other boards with separate FJ Cruiser forums. By far the majority of those who find the FJC styling not to their liking spend most of their drive time being followed around by a huge, empty metal box.
Don't get me wrong, it took over a year for it to grow on me, and then only after seeing it live. I'm still not thrilled about the color scheme or choices, but when I saw it's unique design, stance and proportion, the lust began. After driving one (not far, around a half-empty 20 acre paved lot at the port), I knew it fit my needs perfectly...for now. I don't quite understand the fit comments above. My port escort that day was a big man, around 6'4", pushing 250 lbs. with a long inseam. He didn't have his seat all the way back and had around 3" of extra headroom, similar to a Land Cruiser. We'll see how it works out. I'll be flipping it, but am still looking forward to changing the tires to real A/T's and doing some light wheeling this Summer, then laughing all the way to the bank (I hope). |
I think the styling will improve in a few years. The 06 4R looks a lot better with a few styling changes, especially the front bumper/grill/lights and fenders. The roof line and C pillar on the FJC just didn't come out right, I think they will probably change it in a few years. The rest of the styling looks pretty good, I just hope they move the gas tank to below the cargo area. Maybe a good mod for people in the future. Rip out the rear seats (lets face it most people will only use 2 :D ), move the gas tank, lift/skid/bumper it and you are good to go.

I agree that with some personal (lift/rims/tires) touches it will Rock!

i have judged it, im not gonna lie, and its about a C- in my head... but i want to see it in person first. |
well I think they are worlds better than some of the cute-ute designs from other manufacturers - I definetly dig the round headlights and "TOYOTA" spelt out on the grille.
I think the H3 is better looking though. |
